Economics enrolments in Australian Year 12 have plummeted by 70% over the past three decades, with female participation declining from parity to just one-third of students. At the same time, students from lower socio-economic backgrounds are increasingly underrepresented within this field. These trends threatens the diversity and effectiveness of future policy-making.
