A national journal where Australian high-school students explore the ideas they care about — and get published, reviewed and rewarded for it. Presented by MADE and the University of Sydney Economics Society, with experiential prizes from the Commonwealth Treasury.
$500 + Treasury
Each issue's winner receives a $500 cash prize and an experiential prize from the Commonwealth Treasury — judged on originality of ideas, extent of research and strength of voice.
How it works
A new issue — the twelve best works — is published at the start of every Australian school term. Every article is reviewed and edited by the Board.

Choose your topic
Pick any economic idea that fascinates you — from housing to AI to climate policy — and make your argument.

Submit your article
Send your piece through the submission portal before the deadline. Guidelines walk you through length and format.

Get reviewed & published
The Board reviews and edits every entry. The twelve best are published; all other works are featured on our website.
Issue Two — now open
Submissions close at the end of 27 September 2026. Any topic, 1,500–2,000 words, APA 7th edition citations — read the guidelines, then submit through the portal.
